The failure mode nobody catches
an outdoor logo projector light does not fail, it fades. Output declines slowly through dust, film on the optics and gradual LED wear, and because the change is gradual nobody dates it. By the time somebody complains the unit has often lost a third of its output — most of it recoverable with a cloth.
- Take a reference photo at install, under the conditions it will run in
- Repeat it annually, same hour, same house lighting
- Log any cleaning or gobo change with a date

Cleaning the optics
Frequency depends on the site, not the product. an outdoor logo projector light in a clean lobby needs attention once a year; one in a kitchen, a workshop or beside a road needs it quarterly. Set the interval from the environment and write it into the site calendar.
- Remove loose dust with a blower or soft brush
- Wipe with a lens cloth and a little isopropyl only
- Never use a household cleaner on coated optics
- Handle the gobo by its edge only
Gobo inspection and replacement
Re-cut the gobo when the image, not the output, is the problem. If brightness has fallen everywhere, look at the optics; if a specific part of the image has degraded, look at the gobo. Storing a spare glass gobo means a damaged one is a five-minute swap rather than a two-week wait.
- Inspect against a light at an angle for cracks and crazing

Heat, seals and electrical checks
Twice a year, check the things that cause failures: housing temperature after an hour at full output, the condition of the seals and gaskets, the tightness of the bracket, and the state of the cable gland. an outdoor logo projector light that is running hot, or whose gland has perished, will fail long before the LED reaches its rated hours.

Before the busy period
Before the busy season, run the unit for a full evening rather than a few minutes. Thermal cut-outs and driver faults appear after an hour or two, not in the first five, and discovering that on the first night of an event is the expensive way to find it.

What to keep on the shelf
The spares list is short because the failure modes are few. A spare glass gobo covers image damage; a spare control handset covers the most common support call; a recorded artwork reference covers everything else. Keep them together with the install record.
