What this fixture is good at
The applications that work share one property: the surface is controlled. Where an LED gobo projector succeeds — a shopping mall, an exhibition booth — somebody has thought about what is already falling on that wall. Where it fails, the unit is fighting daylight or a glossy, patterned surface it was never going to win against.
shopping mall: the straightforward install
A shopping mall install is the reference case: controlled surface, predictable light, fixed message. an LED gobo projector in this setting usually runs at the lower end of its output range, which extends LED life and keeps the housing cool — the two things that determine whether it is still running in five years.
Application two — exhibition booth
The exhibition booth case rewards site work over specification. Two identical LED gobo projector units in the same venue can look entirely different depending on which wall they are aimed at. Walk the space at the working hour, find the surface with the lowest existing illumination, and let that decide the mounting point.
Application three — shop window
The shop window install is where the survey earns its money. Throw distances at the top of the 3–35 m range, uncontrolled ambient light, and access that may need a cherry picker all need settling before the LED gobo projector is specified. Most disappointing results trace back to one of these being assumed rather than measured.
Recommended configuration by application
Configuration follows the venue more than the product. The same LED gobo projector wants a narrow beam and high output on a long throw, a wide beam and modest output for a floor wash, and a locked focus anywhere it might be bumped. Decide these from the site, then order the lens to match.

Three site questions
Before committing, answer three questions about the site: how bright is the surface at the working hour, can the unit be mounted square to it, and is there power within reach. If all three are favourable, an LED gobo projector will do the job. If two are not, price the alternatives first.
