Why output fades quietly
Maintenance on an IP65 gobo light projector is mostly about noticing. Because the loss is gradual, the comparison that matters is against how it looked on day one, not against how it looked last week. Take a reference photo at install and repeat it annually under the same conditions.

How to clean without damaging coatings
Clean in the order the light travels: outer window, then the lens, then the gobo. Use a blower or a soft brush before any liquid, and only then a lens cloth with a drop of isopropyl — never a household cleaner, which will damage coatings in one go. Handle the gobo by its edge; fingerprints bake into the coating under a hot lamp.
Gobo inspection and replacement
Inspect the gobo whenever the image quality changes. Look for crazing in the coating, cracks at the edge, or a mark that appears in the projected image but is hard to see on the glass — holding it up to a light at an angle reveals most faults. Replace rather than clean a coated gobo that has started to degrade.
Heat, seals and electrical checks
Twice a year, check the things that cause failures: housing temperature after an hour at full output, the condition of the seals and gaskets, the tightness of the bracket, and the state of the cable gland. an IP65 gobo light projector that is running hot, or whose gland has perished, will fail long before the LED reaches its rated hours.
Before the busy period
Seasonal checks are about duty cycle, not optics. Run it for the length of the event, at the hour it will run, and confirm it does not cut out. Clean the optics at the same time and you will start the season at full output.
Spares worth holding
Keep the small things: a spare gobo, the handset, and the artwork reference number. an IP65 gobo light projector is not a device that fails often, and when it does, the cause is usually one of those three — all of which are cheap to hold and expensive to wait for.
