Set the comparison on the same wall
The comparison that matters is not the one on the datasheet. Two options with similar wattage can differ entirely in what they can draw, how long they last, and what they cost to keep running. Put them side by side on the real surface and rank them on the things you will live with, not the things that look good in a table.
Light source and output
Compare output at the wall, not at the lamp. LED efficiency varies widely between bins and drivers, so an event gobo projector quoting fewer lumens can deliver more lux through a better lens. If the supplier cannot give you a measured figure at a stated distance, treat the comparison as unreliable.
What each option can actually draw
Detail is the constraint that decides most comparisons. an event gobo projector carrying a custom gobo will reproduce a script monogram cleanly; alternatives that generate the image electronically or mechanically cannot. Check the thinnest stroke in your artwork against what each system holds before you weigh anything else.

- Maximum artwork resolution the optics can resolve
Running cost, heat and service life
The purchase price is the first payment, not the last. LEDs in this class are rated in the tens of thousands of hours to L70, but that figure assumes reasonable thermal management — an event gobo projector cooking in an enclosed void will not reach it. Add gobo replacement, cleaning access, and the cost of the electricity, and the ranking often changes.

Side by side
Set the two options side by side on the criteria that survive contact with a real site: what they can draw, what they cost to run, what they need to stay bright, and how they are serviced. The table is deliberately short — if a criterion does not change the decision, it does not belong in it.
How to choose
If you are still unsure, buy one of each and put them on the wall for a week. Differences that look marginal in a table are unmistakable on site, and one event gobo projector is a small price to pay for getting a rollout right.
