Compare at the same distance, on the same surface
The comparison that matters is not the one on the datasheet. Two options with similar wattage can differ entirely in what they can draw, how long they last, and what they cost to keep running. Put them side by side on the real surface and rank them on the things you will live with, not the things that look good in a table.

- The surface and the ambient light at the working hour
- The artwork, and whether it contains text or fine detail
- How each option will be serviced
Where the brightness comes from
Where the brightness comes from determines what you can do with it. An LED remote control gobo projector can be switched, dimmed and cycled without penalty; older sources need warm-up and suffer from frequent switching. For anything on a timer or a sensor, LED is not just more efficient — it is the only sensible choice.

What each option can actually draw
Ask what each option can actually draw. Fine strokes, gradients and photographic detail need an engraved glass gobo and a lens that can resolve it; simpler effects do not. Buyers often pay for capability they never use — or discover too late that the cheaper option cannot render the artwork they already approved.
The bill after the first year
Service life is a design outcome, not a datasheet number. Compare how each option handles heat, whether routine servicing breaks the environmental seal, and how quickly a replacement gobo can be produced. Those three things determine whether the unit is still doing its job in year three.
The short version
Set the two options side by side on the criteria that survive contact with a real site: what they can draw, what they cost to run, what they need to stay bright, and how they are serviced. The table is deliberately short — if a criterion does not change the decision, it does not belong in it.

Decide on the job, not the datasheet
Choose on the job, not the datasheet. If the work is a logo, a monogram or anything with readable text, a remote control gobo projector with a proper gobo is the answer. If it is an abstract effect over a large area, the alternative may be cheaper and better. The mistake is buying the flexible option for a job that does not need it, or the cheap one for a job that does.
