What's happening
For the NYNJ World Cup 26 and Telemundo Fan Village, Quince Imaging transformed about 52,000 square feet across 743 vertical feet of Rockefeller Center's façade into one of North America's tallest building projection mappings. The four-week activation used 21 Panasonic PT-RQ45 4K RGB laser projectors, three Disguise VX4 media servers and three Proietta weatherproof enclosures, running nightly through the tournament and America250 celebrations.
Why it matters for buyers
For a retailer, venue or signage buyer, the practical effect is simple: the unit that reads on your wall at your ambient light, with your artwork, beats the one with the bigger number on the box. Specification order — distance, image size, ambient, then brightness — decides the result.
It also changes lead-time risk. Custom gobos and certified outdoor builds need briefing before the date is fixed; the projector is rarely the long pole, the artwork and certification are.
The technical angle
HD glass gobos carry finer detail but demand a cleaner optical path. Dust on the front window shows immediately on a high-detail image, so the maintenance interval shortens as resolution rises.
What to specify
Before you request a quote, lock these down:
- Throw distance from bracket to surface, measured on site — not estimated
- Image size you need at that distance
- Certifications required for the market (CE / RoHS / FCC)
- Ambient light level at the hour the projection must read
