What's happening
Multiple October 2026 buyer roundups (Bric Online, Best Projectors Today, Peggy O'Mara) put IP67-rated 50W-100W LED gobo projectors (COLIFINE, YYD, ARXENOVATH) at the top for outdoor commercial branding. Reviewers highlight 8000+ lumens, aluminium housings surviving weeks of rain, remote static/rotation modes and free custom glass gobos, with outdoor IP67 units priced roughly $170-$290.
Why it matters for buyers
For a retailer, venue or signage buyer, the practical effect is simple: the unit that reads on your wall at your ambient light, with your artwork, beats the one with the bigger number on the box. Specification order — distance, image size, ambient, then brightness — decides the result.
It also changes lead-time risk. Custom gobos and certified outdoor builds need briefing before the date is fixed; the projector is rarely the long pole, the artwork and certification are.
The technical angle
Ingress protection is the spec that quietly decides lifespan. IP65 keeps rain and dust out of the body; IP67 adds temporary immersion tolerance for ground-level or wash-down locations. The rating only holds if the cable gland and gasket are seated — a loose gland defeats a higher number.
What to specify
Before you request a quote, lock these down:
- Lead time on a custom gobo versus a stock pattern
- Gobo material: glass for longevity and colour, metal for cheap short runs
- Mounting surface and whether the bracket can hold aim
- Image size you need at that distance
