What's happening
Market commentary highlights outdoor logo projectors with 50W power and IP68 protection rated for -40°C to 60°C operation, becoming essential for winter promotional activities such as Christmas and New Year celebrations. Large gobo lights (150W–1500W) are also used for facade projections on landmarks, signalling stronger demand for robust cold-weather advertising lighting.
Why it matters for buyers
For a retailer, venue or signage buyer, the practical effect is simple: the unit that reads on your wall at your ambient light, with your artwork, beats the one with the bigger number on the box. Specification order — distance, image size, ambient, then brightness — decides the result.
It also changes lead-time risk. Custom gobos and certified outdoor builds need briefing before the date is fixed; the projector is rarely the long pole, the artwork and certification are.
The technical angle
Ingress protection is the spec that quietly decides lifespan. IP65 keeps rain and dust out of the body; IP67 adds temporary immersion tolerance for ground-level or wash-down locations. The rating only holds if the cable gland and gasket are seated — a loose gland defeats a higher number.
What to specify
Before you request a quote, lock these down:
- Ambient light level at the hour the projection must read
- Ingress rating if it lives outdoors or gets washed down
- Lead time on a custom gobo versus a stock pattern
- Mounting surface and whether the bracket can hold aim
