What's happening
LIGMAN introduced the ODESSA 2-G, a 45W fixture using a side-access hatch for gobo rotation without demounting, IP66 rated, taking standard Size-E (37.5mm) gobos. It offers eight standard steel laser-cut patterns plus custom 1-5 colour dichroic glass gobos covering single-colour logos through full-colour photographs. The design keeps the front cover glass in place for image accuracy during site aiming.
Why it matters for buyers
For a retailer, venue or signage buyer, the practical effect is simple: the unit that reads on your wall at your ambient light, with your artwork, beats the one with the bigger number on the box. Specification order — distance, image size, ambient, then brightness — decides the result.
It also changes lead-time risk. Custom gobos and certified outdoor builds need briefing before the date is fixed; the projector is rarely the long pole, the artwork and certification are.
The technical angle
Custom gobo turnaround is the real lead-time risk on a launch. Stock glass patterns ship in days; a bespoke etched logo with colour needs artwork sign-off plus production, so brief it before the date is fixed.
What to specify
Before you request a quote, lock these down:
- Gobo material: glass for longevity and colour, metal for cheap short runs
- Image size you need at that distance
- Certifications required for the market (CE / RoHS / FCC)
- Lead time on a custom gobo versus a stock pattern
