Measure the Throw Distance
Throw distance — the gap from projector to wall — sets your lens. Too close and the logo is tiny; too far and it dims. Measure before buying; long-throw lenses exist for exactly this.
Estimate Required Lumens
A lit city facade needs far more than a dark one. As a rule, add lumens for every streetlight and lit window between you and the wall.
| Facade condition | Suggested lumens |
|---|---|
| Dark, unlit wall | 5,000–10,000 |
| Mixed street lighting | 10,000–20,000 |
| Bright lit facade | 20,000+ |
Deal With Texture
Brick and stone chew up fine detail. Use a bolder logo, increase size, and accept softer edges; a hairline wordmark will not survive a rough surface.
Mounting and Aim
Fix the unit on a stable bracket well off the ground; vibration and wind blur the image. Aim perpendicular to the wall to avoid keystone distortion.
Permissions and Safety
Many cities require permission to project on public or shared facades, especially with lasers. Check with the building owner and local rules before install.
Test at the Real Hour
Always test at the actual time you will use it. A logo that pops at 9 pm may vanish at 7 pm against a still-lit sky.
