How to Install and Aim a Logo Projector Light

Installation is where a good logo projector light becomes a good result, or does not. Everything below is ordered the way the job should actually be done.

What to check on the first visit

A logo projector light install is mostly survey work. Walk the site at the hour the projection will run, because the ambient light, the position of vehicles, and even the position of a display stand all change what works. Take a photo, measure the throw, and mark the cable route before ordering anything.

  • Surface material, colour and ambient light at the working hour
  • Fixing substrate and bracket load
  • How the unit will be reached for cleaning

Mounting height and bracket choice

Choose the bracket before the fixture. A logo projector light needs to hold its aim through thermal cycles and, outdoors, through wind loading; a lightweight bracket that drifts a degree will put the image off-target within a month. Use a bracket rated above the fixture weight, and if the install is exposed, check the fixings are stainless.

The order of adjustments

Focus on the centre, then check the edges. A logo projector light focused on a flat wall should read evenly corner to corner; if it does not, the usual cause is an angled mount rather than a bad lens. Once you are happy, lock the focus if the unit allows it, because vibration and thermal cycling will otherwise move it over a season.

The part that fails inspection, not the optics

Power is where commercial installs fail inspection. A logo projector light drawing 15–150 W is not a problem in itself, but a cable run across a public area, a domestic extension lead, or an unswitched spur all are. Plan a fixed supply, use a gland rated to the environment, and route the cable so it is neither a trip hazard nor the first thing a cleaner unplugs.

Test it the way it will be used

Commission in three checks: image sharpness at the corners, contrast against the surface at the working hour, and a full duty cycle run without thermal cut-out. That last one matters for IP44 units in enclosed spaces, where a logo projector light can pass every optical test and still trip after four hours in a hot ceiling void.

What the site team needs on paper

Leave four things behind: the throw distance and image width as installed, the gobo reference, the focus and zoom settings, and the supplier's contact for re-cutting artwork. Six months later, when somebody asks for a second unit to match, that sheet of paper is worth more than the manual.

Common questions

What surface works best?

A matte, light-coloured, flat surface square to the beam. Textured or glossy walls scatter the image and patterned ones compete with it. Where the surface cannot be changed, a smaller image is the effective fix.

How much power does a logo projector light need?

Start from the ambient light. A dim interior needs very little; an office reception at the working hour may need the top of the 15–150 W range. Increasing image size costs more output than most buyers expect, so fix the size first, then the power.

How long does the light source last?

The rating is usually 30,000–50,000 hours to L70. Whether you get it depends on heat: a well-ventilated logo projector light will, one sealed into a ceiling void will not. Check the housing temperature after an hour at full output.
