What battery gives you
A battery unit goes where no outlet reaches — an outdoor ceremony arch, a marquee with no power, a pop-up display. The freedom is real, but it is bounded by runtime.
Runtime is the catch
Brightness drains the cell fast. A unit that runs four hours at full output may manage one at high brightness with effects on. Confirm runtime at the output you will actually use.
- Check runtime at your brightness
- Carry a spare cell for long events
- Dim effects extend life sharply
What wired gives you
A wired unit runs all night, every night, with no battery anxiety. For a storefront or a facade it is the only sane choice — the cable is a feature, not a burden.
Weatherproofing split
Battery units trend indoor or light-outdoor because cells and cold do not mix. Wired outdoor units reach higher IP ratings more easily. Match the rating to the location.
| Battery | Wired | |
|---|---|---|
| Runtime | Limited | Unlimited |
| Outdoor IP | Often lower | High available |
| Placement | Free | Near outlet |
Hybrid option
Some units accept either a cell or a mains adapter. That covers a battery ceremony and a wired install with one fixture.
How to choose
No power where you need it, and a short event? Battery. Fixed location or all-night? Wired. Both? A hybrid.
